As of 2019, betting at bet365 is now legal in some areas of the USA. The sportsbook has teamed up with the Hard Rock Casino in New Jersey to allow gambling within the state.

Aside from the coverage, the range of features that were on offer really caught my eye. State Restrictions & Licensing

After doing a little more research into how the brand was being hosted in the USA, I was able to see that they were fully licensed within the state of New Jersey. Their ties to this state came in the form of the Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City.

The license appears to allow bet365 to only operate in the state of New Jersey for now. The way the US gambling scene is set up is that each bookmaker needs to have a license within each state.

For example, you can’t just get a license in New Jersey and then be able to accept players from New York. To do this bet365 would need a license in each state.

Will bet365 Become Legit in Other US States?

I would be speculating when I say that it’s almost certain bet365 will expand into other states as the lift on gambling starts to become more mainstream. It’s tough to say where exactly but given that their initial license has been formed with the Hard Rock Group, then it would make sense they utilised this throughout other states.

How to Open a Bet365 US Account?

What I found when opening my account is that the process was very streamlined. There is just the one popup box that appears, but with it, I did have to include quite a bit of information.

Here is my step by step guide for the process that I followed:

At the top of the form, I was asked to confirm my country of residence. You need to choose the United States of America for this.
I then entered my title, name, date of birth and last four digits of my Social Security Number.

Available Sports for US Punters

I was pleased to see that bet365 have been able to carry across their impressive range of sports that they run on their European betting sites as well. A big emphasis with the sports appeared to be with the likes of football and basket, with baseball, hockey, soccer, and tennis running them close.

What I really liked about it all is that the sportsbook is constantly buzzing. There always seems like something is going on regardless of what time I logged in.

The sports that I listed above are pretty much what most will be offering, so I was impressed to see that they covered a good range outside of the high-profile games. An example of this would be the likes of Aussie Rules, darts, rugby union/league, and cycling. These aren’t necessarily sports that I would be betting on, but good to see them include nevertheless.

Bet365 USA Markets and Odds

As I have pointed out earlier, the market coverage really does back up the range of sports nicely. To give you an example of what I mean, many of the NBA games that were on site as I was testing were getting well over 220 markets to bet on.

What I liked about this is that it included a nice mix of markets and bets. The props section here was something a little bit special and with it came a range about as good as I’d seen. I also liked that they include their Same Game Parlay feature with many of the top games. For those of you who aren’t familiar, this allows you to create a bet within a single game from multiple markets. It works like a parlay, but instead of having to use markets from different games, they can all be interlinked.

One thing that I did notice is that the coverage does not seem to be a carbon copy of their European betting site. An example of this was with soccer games, where the US-based site only had around 75 markets, with the Euro site getting well in excess of 100 markets.

I can’t really explain the reasoning here other than to say it’s a little disappointing.

In terms of pricing, they were up there as one of the best. I like to test the margin that they charge, and they were right around the 4.50% mark. For those that don’t know, the margin is basically the bookmakers cut and anything under 5% is very good (for us players).

It was tough to find anything negative about how the site was priced, to be honest. Bet365 was just so consistent and I think this is one of the reasons why they are as popular as they are.

If you notice in the pros and cons section above, I call the design “marmite”. This is because some love it and some hate it.

What I will say is that the site is totally unique to bet365. There are no other sportsbooks like it and given how saturated the industry is right now, this is a big positive for me. I will also add that I am a big fan of the design. I’ve been using bet365 almost since they first came out and I’ve grown to love it. I find it functions really well and I love that it includes a search bar for those times when you get a little lost or need to be somewhere quickly.

In-Play Sports Betting

In-play betting is one of the main reasons why I advise people to take a serious look at bet365. To put it simply, it’s superb.

As soon as I landed on this section of the site, I could tell that it was well laid out and full of games. It’s only when I started to dive into each game and utilise their brilliant match centre did it start to really come alive.

Another feature that I love of the in-play section is the link to live streaming. You can be sat betting on the match whilst watching it live. There was a slight delay when using it, but it’s the best way to see how a game is progressing, instead of simply looking at the stats or the odds.
